Aims and Objectives
The City & Guilds 2377-12 course is for delegates looking for a recognised PAT qualification. City & Guilds 2377-12 is the recognised
qualification for people undertaking the inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT Testing).
The qualification is based on the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical
Equipment 3rd edition, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
It is expected that candidates attempting either PAT qualifications should be familiar with electrical systems and hazards of
electricity in order to satisfactorily complete this qualification. Without evidence of formal qualifications,
candidates must be able to demonstrate adequate prior knowledge and experience to ensure they have the potential
to successfully gain the qualification.
Course Content
Upon completion the delegates will have gained knowledge of:
- Equipment construction and classification.
- Inspection requirements.
- Combined inspection and testing.
- The use of portable appliance testing equipment and recording data.

Assessment and Certification
The 2377-12 PAT Testing exam consists of 30 questions with a time limit of 1 hour. Candidates are also required to undertake
a practical assessment to demonstrate their ability to inspect and test an appliance and correctly complete forms.
Successful Candidates will receive:
- Level 3 (2377-12) Certificate in Management of Electrical Maintenance.
